Times of Change

— Midweek Meditations:
thoughts, inspiration and encouragement
from ACF community members —

Unfortunately, this will be my last midweek meditation. The girls and I have now relocated to Rottweil, and what a breath of fresh air this has been for us. The time flew by so quickly we didn’t get a chance to come and say goodbye and as the last few months have been so incredibly busy, it was difficult to map out time to come and worship with you all. So much has happened these last few months, that getting away for our own peace of mind and getting settled in our new home and space has been priority number one.

Change is sometimes hard to accept and but sometimes so necessary. Sometimes we can be so stuck in a routine or structure, that we don’t see any other ways out. And sometimes this lack of change is contributed to by people we are around. This will test your faith, your courage to proceed a lot of the time, so that all you will be doing is seemly walking on the hamster wheel. At times people will offer you things that you see a positive situation and it will turn out to be nothing, just hot air, as I call it.

Realising and seeing this will prompt you to act. Stand up straight and decide what exactly you are going to do about the situation you are in. A lot of the time I say to my team, if you want to change something, or effect change, one must first change themself. That is a hard thing to do, because a lot of the time we don’t see ourselves as the problem, and we’re not, but we a part to play in this situation we find ourselves in.

As I have spoken about in my previous meditations, setting up boundaries, is incredibly important, and once those boundaries are set, it empowers us to create the necessary changes we need, in a day, a month, a year. As we move forward through the end of summer and into autumn, I hope for positive changes in all our lives and that positive and fruitful changes come our way.

As I wind down my short little pep talk as we head into the business end of the year, I would like you to think about what situation you would like to change, and have the courage of your conviction to make that change, and do it for the right reasons and not to harm yourself or those around you. Hold fast to that which is good, render to no one, evil for evil. And until we meet again, may the wind be always your back.

Peace and Love

The ACF Midweek Meditations
are written by a diverse group of our church members with the intention to seek God’s fingerprints in our lives. They range from somber to humorous and are inspired by all facets of live and faith. Written by ordinary people from all walks of life, they reflect a wide range of Christian backgrounds and spiritualities.

Each week’s text portrays the individual viewpoint of its author. They might not always resonate with everyone, and are not meant to be understood as representing the Anglican Church Freiburg as a whole. Yet, as a church that is aiming to ‘Build a Community of Grace’ we seek to practice learning from and listening to one another.

We pray that these humble ponderings add a small spark of blessing to your week.
