How Long?

My Chaplain letter to the congregation in Freiburg this time is a series of questions I ask myself and wart all of us to seriously  ask ourselves. 

Here are those questions:

How Long?

How long can we continue living the way we are leaving today?

How long can we continue to have wars? How long can we cause people to flee from their homes? 

 How long can we make our children orphans and our mothers widows? 

How long can we keep shelling and bombing and destroying life? 

 How long can we connive to make life difficult for others? 

 How long will people have to flee their homes with keys around their neck, not sure whether they would come back again? 

 How long will we keep invading others’ territories? 

 How long will we continue destroying nations, economies and peoples? 

 How long will we keep poisoning the atmosphere with chemical weapons? How long will we neglect the rights of future generations stealing from them the earth they ought to inherit in peace? How long will we allow religion to be toxic instead of being the channel of love? 

 How long will we allowed technology to create disparity among peoples? 

 How long will we wait for a concerted effort towards peace, justice and Joy? How long will it take to satiate human avarice and greed? 

 How long will it take for us to realise the collective potential of humanity to transform this world into a Haven of peace? 

 How long will we be ashamed of the gospel and to be preaching love that took human form? 

 How long can we be silent, complacent and insensitive? 

 No. Not too long. 

 It’s already late. 

 Let us rise and build 

 Let us rise and shine 

We can surely make a difference to the way the world is heading today God being our helper.
