For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10
To be God’s masterpiece is to be uniquely crafted with purpose and love—an intentional work of art, designed not for perfection, but for meaningful impact in His grand story.
‘Unboxed’ is a new initiative in Freiburg basically concentrating on our young adults. It stems from the realisation that several among us are limited within the confines of boxes. To unbox is to let them breathe, dream, and redefine the world. Unboxing isn’t rebellion—it’s revelation or a spiritual revolution. It’s discovering who you truly are beneath the packaging. It is not just about getting outside the box; it is about realising that the box never was: it was only an illusionary construct of the mind shaped by ‘others’.
The message is simple- You are not random or average—you are a masterpiece created for purpose. Step out of the box and into your calling.
Unboxing Identity: You Are God’s Masterpiece, Not a Product of Labels.
Human identity is not always defined by culture, success, failure, or society’s boxes. Some of the mental health issues that we face today is centered around stigma, silence, overload, comparison, busyness or the inability to find the innate intrinsic value of life. The effort should be to rediscover your true self in Christ—unique, intentional, and handcrafted by God. No one is mass-produced or disposable. People need to be liberated from echo-chambers where they sorround themselves with the familiar. They need to be made aware of the limitness possibilities that lie latent within them.
Unboxing Purpose: You Were Created for a Divine Mission.
Every person has a God-given purpose that transcends the limits others may place on them. We need to make the message loud and clear- Don’t live in the box of low expectations or comparison. Step into the works God prepared specifically for you. You need not be craving for social media validation or be burdened by overexpectations on performance indices. Your struggles in toxic work environments and in corrsoive disfunctional relationships need not bog you down. Liberated from the fear of failure, learning to navigate through setbacks, one needs to unbox the possibilities that the anchor of faith can offer in any turbulent sea by providing the right balance that is essential for life.
Unboxing Destiny: God Has Already Prepared the Way Forward.
You don’t have to create your worth or force your way into value—God has already laid out a path full of meaning and fruitfulness. In a world full of distractions and superficial pursuits, many find themselves chasing the peripheries—fleeting pleasures, empty achievements, or the constant approval of others. Yet true fulfillment comes when we look beyond these outer edges and dive into the depths of life’s purpose. It is in discovering what truly matters—our values, relationships, and the call to contribute meaningfully—that we find lasting joy and peace. Moving past the surface, we awaken to a life rich with intention and significance, where each moment connects us to something greater than ourselves. Choosing depth over shallowness invites us to live authentically, embrace growth, and uncover the profound meaning that sustains the soul. This would enable one to comprehend the inner meanings of what it means to be ‘created in Christ’.
Unboxing Possibilities: From the Confines of Conformity to the Choices of Creativity:
Too often, we find ourselves trapped within the narrow confines of conformity—boxed in by societal expectations, fear of judgment, or the pressure to fit a predefined mold. But to truly live is to unbox ourselves from these restrictions and embrace the freedom to choose creativity over compliance. Unboxing means rejecting the safety of sameness and stepping boldly into the unknown realms of imagination, innovation, and authentic self-expression. It is a journey from restriction to liberation, where each choice reflects our unique gifts and passions rather than the limiting norms imposed on us. In unboxing, we reclaim our God-given potential and discover the power to shape a vibrant, original life that impacts the world in ways only we can.
Unbox: A space of the young people.
The new initiative of ACF will be a youth driven one: by the youth, of the youth, with the youth and accountable to the youth. The young people knows best what are the boxes that limit them and their colleagues and how they could unveil the processes of unboxing. There will be a series of creative activities offering safe spaces for young people to gather, to relax, to play, to rest, to share and to give wings to their creative and imaginative possibilities. Though the youth/young in this case is the people between the age bracket of 18 and 30 they will be at liberty to expand this based on the activities they propose. However, participation in the Unboxed events will not be restricted by age or gender. It will be open to all; to as many as find the vision appealing, to all who are still trying to find their community of people, and to all who may feel overwhelmed by fixed group commitments but still desire enriching communal experiences. This would invite the young adults into the larger framework of ACF of being a fragrant community reaching out to the last, the least and the lost.
The pastoral call to the congregation is to offer all possible support and encouragement to this unique initiative of the young. Let our words or actions ensure that they are in no way demotivated. May we offer them an ambiance to explore the horizons enabling several to realise they are indeed masterpieces of God.
I wish Catherine Tibaga and Shekinah Agbozo who would be leading this initiative God’s choicest blessings and wisdom.
