This was the Weekend Away 2023!

We had a wonderful Parish weekend away from May 18-21st at the Picturesque Retreat centre.
The theme of this year’s Weekend Away was “Our Church: Called to be Good News”
We learned a lot from Julie and Leslie Nathaniel, who guided us through some important questions about our faith and mission:

  • What does it mean to be the church?
  • What is the nature of the Church- the image of the rainbow
  • What is the Completeness and Incompleteness of the Church
  • What does it mean to be called?
  • What is it that we are called for?
  • What does the words Community, Conversion, Commitment, Covenant mean to us?

We explored these topics using biblical passages such as Gen 9 (the rainbow covenant), John 1 (the invitation to “Come and See”), and Luke 4:16-18 (the Nazareth Manifesto).

We also heard from ACF community members like Brian, who spoke to us about his vision for reaching out to the university students in our area and forming a task force to make it happen. Klaus led a session on Church and Young People, where we listened to the voices and experiences of our children and teens. We also discussed how we can support them in their faith journey.

Besides the learning sessions, we also enjoyed some fun activities such as a music workshop, a nature walk, and a campfire. We had time to relax, pray, and connect with each other.

The Eucharist led by Leslie was a beautiful way to end our weekend together.

We are grateful to all who put in their hard work to make the weekend happen!

PS.:
2024 will see us celebrate ACF’s 20th weekend away. Mark May 9-12th 2024 in your diaries – we look forward to seeing you there!
