ACF Snapshot: Cookie Baking

December 2025

On the last Saturday in November, the church rooms were filled with the fragrance of baked goods, the sound of chatting, and many busy hands at our annual Cookie Bake. It It was a wonderful time spent together and much yummy goodness was produced. What a wonderful way to start off into the Advent season!

Photography Contest: Sacred Places & People on the Move

Autumn 2025

Sacred Spaces and People on the Move was the theme chosen for the ACF’s 2025 Photography Contest. Migration, in all its forms, not only displaces people, but also transforms their understanding of sacredness. As individuals and communities journey from one place to another, their encounters with new contexts and cultures often redefine what is holy and where God is encountered. The challenge, therefore, was to capture this emerging sense of sacred space amid movement — a visual theology of pilgrimage, presence, and adaptation.

ACF Snapshot: Conversation Salon

Summer 2025

We kicked off the Conversation Salon on June 26, and it’s been a truly meaningful experience so far. The same people keep coming back each week, and there’s a real sense of connection growing—maybe even the beginning of something that could turn into other social projects down the line. We’re usually between 17 and 19 people every Thursday, and it’s a wonderful mix: German-born locals, immigrants, and refugees, both younger and older. Together, we’ve had rich conversations about things like new beginnings, identity, and the meaning of life. There’s a warm, open atmosphere in the room—one that makes people want to come back.

Men’s Hike

July 2025

On a beautiful Saturday morning we started from Freiburg and Basel to meet for our mens’ hike at the Gran Ballon Alsace France. We had great fellowship, climbing the top of the highest mountain in the Vosges, descending to the lake du Ballon before we reached our starting point after 4 hours hiking to reward us with the best Tarte framboise ever.
Definitely to be repeated!

Our Midweek Meditations Featured by the Church of England!

February 2025

We’re delighted to share that our beloved Midweek Meditations blog has been recognized by the Church of England in this recent feature interview! Christine and Vinod represented our community as they shared the story behind this vibrant ministry that began during the 2020 lockdown and has since flourished into a cornerstone of our church’s communication.

The interview highlights how our diverse congregation contributes to this weekly tradition, with nearly 200 meditations published so far. What began as a way to stay connected during isolation has evolved into a meaningful platform where our congregation’s voices shine. The feature recognizes our commitment to consistency, the wide reach of the blog (reaching around 200 email subscribers plus social media followers), and how the meditations often spark conversations in our various church groups.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed to Midweek Meditations over the years. Your willingness to share your faith journey, insights, and reflections has created something truly special that now serves as an inspiration to other churches!

Want to join our writing team or learn more about contributing? Please speak with Christine after the service or send a message via our contact form here.

Deanery Synod – Oct 2024

A profound word of thanks to all who helped in hosting the Deanery Synod in Freiburg from the 10th to 13th of October 2024. The Synod began with the members of the Clergy Chapter meeting for evening prayer at the Vicarage on the 10th. On the 11th of October the clergy chapter met in the morning discussing common ministerial challenges they faced. The lay delegates joined in the evening. Apart from routine business matters Ms. Grace Fagan the Head of Safeguarding of the Diocese led a session on Safeguarding and the Bishop Robert Innes shared his vision about the life of the diocese. Encouraging stories from the Chaplaincies were also shared. On Saturday the 12th of October the bishop led the morning prayer with the commissioning of the new Area Dean. The sessions on the day included Bible Study from Pearly Walter, one on Youth and Children ministry led by Stephen, on Racial Justice led by Archdeacon Leslie Nathaniel and on Communications and Environment concerns led by Ruth Blanco. On Sunday the 13th most of the delegates stayed on for the Eucharist celebrated by Archdeacon Leslie Nathaniel. A shared lunch with a great buffet spread was offered by the ACF.

Special appreciation to Solveyg, our Warden who led from the front making all arrangements for the Synod. A special Lebanese evening meal on Friday prepared by Mirna and the shared lunch on Sunday were the highlights. All the people who participated were appreciative of the hosting. Catherine represented us along with Solveyg as lay delegates in the Synod. Peter Widdess helped with arranging the C-Punct for an afternoon session and actively participated as the host of the event, Each person who spared time and effort in helping in the hospitality deserve our special thanks. THANK YOU. May God richly bless the efforts they put in.

Vinod Victor
