Midweek Meditation: Ascension Day and Me
Ascension Day isn’t about Jesus disappearing—it’s about hope. In this week’s Midweek Meditation, Molly reflects on what the ascension really means: that Christ carries our human life with him, that we have dignity and purpose, and that God’s presence is woven through our everyday moments.

Light up the World in Prayer: Join Thy Kingdom Come 2026!
From 14th May to 24th May 2026, Christians around the world will be joining together in prayer during Thy Kingdom Come. It’s a chance to be part of something really big – a movement that unites more than a million Christians in prayer across nearly 90% of countries worldwide and 85 different denominations and traditions.
This year’s focus is “God with Us” – the God who is present in the everyday, in the joys and sorrows of life, and through His Spirit, longs to reveal Himself to those who do not yet know Him. Over the 11 days, different Bible stories will be explored, from the story of Ruth and Gideon to the early church waiting for the Holy Spirit.
What does it look like?
The beauty of Thy Kingdom Come is that it’s flexible. You can join in however works for you – whether that’s using one of the new prayer journals and novena resources, watching daily videos, or simply praying on your own. Many people find it helpful to pick five people they care about and spend the 11 days praying for them.
Important note for our Weekend Away folks
Some of the Thy Kingdom Come dates overlap with our church Weekend Away – but that’s absolutely fine! Whether you’re heading away with us or staying in Freiburg, everyone is invited to take part. Even a few minutes of quiet prayer counts.

ACF Fundraiser: Envelope Giving
As most of you know, our church is independent from any external funding sources, such as German taxes (Kirchesteuer), the Church of England, or other institutions. We depend on the generous donations of our members and friends to cover all our expenses (the minister’s salary, rent, insurances, diocese contributions, …).
This is why we’re excited to announce this spring’s ACF fundraiser: ‘Envelope Giving’! At church there is a display of 100 lovingly decorated envelopes, with a number on each of them: from €1 to €100. We invite you to pick one of them and donate the stated amount to the ACF via one of these ways:
- cash donation into the envelope
put into collection basket or hand in with ACF council members or chaplain - card payment
via the card terminal at church, make sure to select the ‘envelope giving’ button - via bank transfer
subject line: ‘envelope giving’
account details: Anglican Church Freiburg e.V., Sparkasse Freiburg

Supporting the ACF financially
We’re so grateful for your support and prayers for our church. We are independent from any external funding sources, such as German taxes (Kirchesteuer), the Church of England, or other institutions. We depend on the generous donations of our members and friends to cover all our expenses (the minister’s salary, rent, insurances, diocese contributions, …). Unfortunately, our reserves are running low and we need your help to keep going.
We want to continue to serve God and our community with love and faithfulness. That’s why we’re asking you to consider donating to the ACF on a regular basis. By setting up a standing bank order, you can help us plan our budget and resources more effectively. It’s easy and secure, and you can cancel or change it anytime. Thank you for your generosity and God bless you!

Would you like to help fund the work of the ACF?
The best way to help is setting up a monthly direct debit to

Praying for each other
If you have personal matters that you would like to be included in the public intercessions during our Sunday morning church services, we encourage you to reach out to our chaplain Vinod Victor (see contact details below). Your concerns, joys, and requests can be shared with the congregation, allowing us to support and uplift one another in prayer. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with the chaplain and let your voice be heard during our Sunday services.
