Discipleship Resources: Fruitfulness on the Frontline
Those of us who were at the 2025 ACF Weekend Away will remember the resources from the LICC (London Institute for Contemporary Christianity) that inspired all of us to see us living out our faith in daily life in a new and refreshed light. Margaret Rittman, who led the retreat with her husband Malcolm, has been in touch to draw out attention to the launch of the LICC’s the brand new Fruitfulness on the Frontline!
It carries the amazing truth that God is already working through each of us in our everyday lives – we just need eyes to see it. Whether we’re in the studio, on the school run, or out with friends, Monday to Saturday life matters deeply to God. We can bear all kinds of fruit with him, day by day.
Designed as a complete suite of resources, you can jump into the new resource wherever works best for you. There is a small group course, a podcast, a 14-day devotional journey, and more.

YOUNIWORTH exhibition – until 23rd Oct
The interactive YOUNIWORTH exhibition, which is open only until the 23rd October, could be of particular interest to the Young Adults of ACF, as it highlights life’s realities in Germany for young people who have come here from other countries. During the opening hours of the exhibition, peers and staff from the Jugendmigrationsdienst of Caritas are also on site and can answer questions e.g. about language courses, finding an apprenticeship or a job.

November at the Anglican Church Freiburg
November invites us to remember with love, renew our commitment to care and justice, and prepare with hope for Advent. Join us for our Sunday services at 11:30 am at Petrus-Paulus Church, Lorettostraße 61, Freiburg.
- November 1: All Saints’ Day – Memorial Requiem Eucharist
We will honour our dear departed, giving thanks for their lives and entrusting them to God’s eternal love. For those living far from the resting places of loved ones, this Eucharist offers a shared space for remembrance, grief and the hope of resurrection. - November 8: Remembrance Sunday – Remembering the Victims of War
We will remember all whose lives have been lost or wounded through war, including civilians, service personnel, displaced people and bereaved families. Together, we will pray for peace and renew our calling to be peacemakers. - November 15: Safeguarding Sunday – Making Church a Safe Space
We will reflect on our shared responsibility to make the Church a place of safety, dignity and belonging. Our worship will affirm the importance of listening, protecting children and adults at risk, and building a community where concerns are heard and acted upon. - November 22: Justice Sunday – Responding to Modern Slavery
We will focus on the realities of modern slavery, human trafficking and exploitation, considering how our choices and actions can uphold human dignity. Through prayer and reflection, we will explore our responsibility to recognise suffering and respond with compassion and practical commitment. - November 29: Advent Sunday – Welcoming the Season of Hope
We begin a new Church year and joyfully welcome Advent, the season of waiting, preparation and expectation. Together, we will prepare our hearts to receive Christ and recognise his presence among us.
Two Special November Events
- November 14: Youth Welcoming Evening (6 pm)
An evening of welcome and friendship, reaching out especially to young people newly arrived in Freiburg. Come, make connections, share your story and discover a community in which you can belong. - November 29: Advent Play – The Story of Jesus through New Eyes (6 pm)
A fresh encounter with the story of Jesus through drama, inviting us to see familiar events from new perspectives and reflect on their meaning for our lives.
Everyone is warmly welcome. Please invite friends, neighbours and newcomers to share in the life of our community.
All regular small group activities will happen as scheduled.
ACK Autumn General Assembly: a church turned emergency shelter – Wed, 4th Nov
On 4th November, 7 pm, the ACK (the council of churches in Freiburg, which we’re part of) holds its autumn general assembly at the Lukaskirche, Am Mettweg 39. Everyone interested in ecumenical life in Freiburg is welcome, not just delegates.
Last December, the Protestant Zachäuskirche in Landwasser was deconsecrated (no longer used for church services) and became an emergency shelter for homeless people. Holger Hoffmann from the Diakonisches Werk will talk about that time and the people he and his team met. The evening will be in German. The delegates will also vote on the Ukrainian Orthodox congregation’s application for full ACK membership.

Praying for each other
If you have personal matters that you would like to be included in the public intercessions during our Sunday morning church services, we encourage you to reach out to our chaplain Vinod Victor (see contact details below). Your concerns, joys, and requests can be shared with the congregation, allowing us to support and uplift one another in prayer. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with the chaplain and let your voice be heard during our Sunday services.
ACF Safeguarding Policy
As a church community, we are committed to creating a safe environment for everyone, especially children and vulnerable adults.
