The Centre Evangelique du Hohrodberg
is located in the national park region of the Vosges just west of Colmar (it takes a little over an hour to get there from Freiburg). The centre is beautifully situated at 850 meters and the views are simply stunning.

Daytime Visitors
Can’t stay overnight? You’re still welcome to join us! For those who need this option, the cost for food and daytime use of the center is €32 per day.
Financial Assistance Available
We want everyone to be able to join us! Financial assistance is available through the ACF’s ‘Fragrance in Freiburg’ project for those who need it. However, we do not offer free places – only price reductions. If you require financial support, you must contact Lauren (warnatze@t-online.de) directly, as she oversees the finances. This is a requirement, not optional.

Transport & Shopping – We Need Your Help
We’re always short on drivers for these events, so if you have a car and space available, please offer a lift to others. You can register available spaces or request a lift through the online registration form.
We also urgently need volunteers with cars to do the main grocery shopping for the weekend (you’ll be fully reimbursed) and transport the food to the retreat centre in Alsace. This is essential for making the weekend happen, so please consider helping if you’re able.
Good to Know
- Our program begins in full on Friday evening, with a more relaxed schedule beforehand for early arrivals.
- Did you know that in Germany, parents can easily get approval for religious event absences? Just notify the class teacher about the Weekend Away being a church trip, and they’ll help you arrange the day off.
- The retreat center offers a simple, community-style experience with shared bathrooms and rooms accommodating 1-4 people. For those preferring private facilities, we recommend booking separate accommodation nearby. Camping on the grounds is also available.
- In true community spirit, everyone pitches in! We’ll share responsibilities for meal preparation, clean-up, and final cleaning before departure.
- Sorry, no pets allowed at the center.
- Room assignments work on a first-paid, first-served basis.
