Ascension Day and me

— Midweek Meditations:
thoughts, inspiration and encouragement
from ACF community members —

On Ascension Day, I pause and remember that the ascension of Jesus Christ is not about absence, but about hope and purpose. Christ ascended into the presence of God, carrying our human life with Him. This reminds me that my life has dignity and meaning. I am not forgotten. I am held in the love of God.

As I reflect on the ascension, I see the world differently. I remember that no earthly power is greater than the reign of Christ. Fear, injustice, suffering, and uncertainty do not have the final word. Christ reigns with peace, mercy, and truth. This gives me courage to face the struggles of daily life with faith instead of despair.

The ascension also reminds me that heaven and earth are connected. God is present in ordinary life, in my work, my relationships, my prayers, and my acts of kindness. I do not need to search for God far away. Christ is near through the Spirit, guiding and strengthening me each day.

I am also reminded that I am called to live with purpose. The ascended Christ sends His people into the world to bring hope, compassion, justice, and healing. My faith is not only for myself. I am invited to care for others and to become a witness of God’s love in simple ways.

Today I pray for eyes to see beyond fear and selfishness. I pray for a heart that trusts in God’s greater plan. As I walk through life, may I live with hope, humility, and courage, knowing that Christ reigns and that His presence is always with me.

The ACF Midweek Meditations
are written by a diverse group of our church members with the intention to seek God’s fingerprints in our lives. They range from somber to humorous and are inspired by all facets of live and faith. Written by ordinary people from all walks of life, they reflect a wide range of Christian backgrounds and spiritualities.

Each week’s text portrays the individual viewpoint of its author. They might not always resonate with everyone, and are not meant to be understood as representing the Anglican Church Freiburg as a whole. Yet, as a church that is aiming to ‘Build a Community of Grace’ we seek to practice learning from and listening to one another.

We pray that these humble ponderings add a small spark of blessing to your week.
